WASHINGTON – Assistance to Firefighting Grant Program grants were announced Wednesday for the Nyack Joint Fire District and Brewster-Southeast Joint Fire District.
Nyack will receive $27,572 to purchase pagers. The Brewster-Southeast department will receive $154,546 to purchase new “Scott Packs” to break oxygen to protect firefighters in hazardous situations.
The grants are administered by the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with the department’s United States Fire Administration. They were announced by Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.
