Five men charged in 12-hour Westchester crime spree

WHITE PLAINS – Five men are charged in a 50-count indictment with committing a 12-hour violent crime spree that began on May 21 in the cities of Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and Yonkers as well as the Bronx.
Charged are Eric Lee, 25, of Mount Vernon; Sincere Smith, 22, of New Rochelle; Allen Copeland, 21, of Mount Vernon; Leroy Garcia, 29, of Waterbury, Connecticut; and John Oquendo, 21, of the Bronx.  All but Oquendo are charged with murder. All five were also charged with armed robbery and other crimes.
They allegedly participated in a conspiracy to commit robberies that led to the murder of Trevon Boswell, an intended robbery victim.
If convicted, Lee faces life in prison without the possibility of parole; Smith, Copeland and Garcia face 25 years to life in prison; and Oquendo faces up to 25 years in state prison.
