WHITE PLAINS – Westchester County Legislator Virginia Perez (D-Yonkers) is opposed to the startup of ridesharing just days ago.
Perez said it is unfair to licensed cabbies and does not provide enough safeguards for the customer.
“It is not a level playing field for mom and pop livery services
and also who in good conscience could feel comfortable they love and care
about in an Uber vehicle not knowing where a driver basically came from,”
Perez said.
While Westchester has an agreement to fingerprint rideshare drivers, Perez said it is not mandatory.
