MIDDLETOWN – The proposed 2017-18 SUNY Orange budget comes in just
1.4 percent higher than last year’s spending plan. The 2016-17 budget
was just under $60 million; the new one, as proposed by College President
Dr. Kristine Young, is $61.1 million.
Tuition is slated to increase by $140 in total for both semesters, but that will be tempered slightly by a reduction in another expense, Young said.
“We are being very, very sensitive to how much of the revenue is coming from students right now, so we examined our student feeds and determined the student activities fee could be reduced,” she said.
The new spending plan would cut that mandatory fee by $20, thus lowering the increase in costs to full-time students to $120 for the year.
Total tuition in the new school year will be $4,776 as compared to this past year at $4,636.
