HILLCREST – Two men have
been arrested on charges that they dog-napped a Maltese dog in Hillcrest.

Ramapo Police were notified Friday night that a resident witnessed the
theft of a neighbor’s dog. The dog owner was not home. The neighbor
provided the police with a license plate and description of the vehicle.

The investigation led to an address in Clarkstown and the arrests of two
women, ages 22 and 21, on charges of petit larceny. Police did not release
their names.

They told police the dog had run away from them when they returned home
and were not able to catch it, but the Clarkstown dog control officer
had located a dog fitting that description.

The dog owner was advised and made arrangements to be reunited with their
pooch.
