HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON – Several
swastikas were painted on a door of one of the buildings at the Grace
Church campus at 457 Broadway in the Village of Hastings-on-Hudson and
police are investigating. This is the third hate graffiti incident in
he last 18 months in that village.
The incident occurred sometime between Friday, June 2 and Saturday June 3.
The village is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the crime.
Mayor Peter Swiderski said the village is “distressed and disappointed” about the action. He believes there may be a correlation between the presidential election and this type of graffiti.
“Some of the negative energy that came out of that election may have given people license to feel they can do this,” the mayor said.
Swiderski said that form of hate speech “is abhorrent and does not represent the values of this village.”
