NEW YORK – James Cromwell, the famed actor, is one of the Wawayanda 6, the group that was arrested for civil disobedience for chaining themselves at the entrance to the CPV power plant under construction in the Town of Wawayanda.
Cromwell, a Warwick resident, Tuesday crashed a Democratic Party fundraiser
in Manhattan in support of candidates for the mid-term elections, attended
by Governor Andrew Cuomo and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
He was asked to leave because he carried a sign calling on Cuomo to ban the use of Pennsylvania fracked gas at the CPV plant. That action is symptomatic of what the Democratic Party does as a matter of course, Cromwell said.
“The thing that the Democrats don’t understand is that if you stifle debate and dissent, which is very similar to what the DNC did when they took away the signs from Bernie delegates during the convention, it creates division and that is exactly why the Democratic Party lost the election, because they failed to address the needs of their own constituencies for their own personal reasons and they stifle anybody who has a different opinion,” he said.
Cromwell and the other members of the Wawayanda 6 will be in local town court today (Wednesday) for sentencing in their arrest case.
