TOWN OF RHINEBECK – A
65-year-old Kingston woman was killed when her car crossed into the opposite
lane of traffic on Slate Quarry Road in the Town of Rhinebeck and was
struck head-on by an oncoming vehicle. The crash occurred around 10 a.m.
on Saturday, June 3.

Dutchess County Sheriff’s Captain John Watterson identified the
victim as Kathi Norklun, who was transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital
in Rhinebeck, where she was later pronounced dead.

She was the only occupant in her 2001 Ford Taurus, which collided with
a 2010 Nissan Murano. All three people in the Murano were transported
to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie for treatment of non-life
threatening injuries.

No charges were filed at this time. Watterson said it appears that Norklun
was not wearing a seatbelt.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Rhinebeck
and Rhinecliff fire departments, and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.

The investigation into the crash is continuing by the sheriff’s
office Crash Investigation Unit.
