MONTICELLO – Joseph D’Amato, the chief executive officer of Empire Resorts, Inc., has retired from the company and the board of directors.
The company, which owns Monticello Casino and Raceway and the Resorts World Catskills, under construction in nearby Kiamesha Lake, also announced that its current president and chief operating officer, Ryan Eller, has been appointed CEO and will retain the title of president. In his new role, he will lead Empire in its vision of making Resorts World Catskills a preeminent destination for gaming and tourism in the Northeast, a company announcement said.
Company Executive Chairman Emanuel Pearlman said D’Amato will continue as a consultant for a year as the new casino prepares to open in less than one year, in March 2018.
