PATTERSON – The driver of a tractor-trailer was treated at a local hospital after his truck crashed and rolled over on Route 22 in the Town of Patterson on Tuesday morning.
The 11 a.m. crash occurred when a southbound truck hauling a flatbed loaded with concrete blocks went out of control and ran off the shoulder of the road just south of Havilland Hollow Road. The truck smashed through a guardrail and overturned down an earthen embankment.
The load of concrete blocks was flung from the truck and at least one of the truck fuel tanks was ruptured, spilling an estimated 125 gallons of diesel fuel onto the ground. The state Department of Transportation coordinated cleanup of the spill.
Putnam County Sheriff’s deputies and emergency responders aided the injured man who complained of head and neck pain.
