TOWN OF WALLKILL – Dozens gathered outside Troop F State Police headquarters on Friday to remember a dozen of their comrades who were killed in the line of duty. As each name was read, a bell was rung.

Remembering troopers who made the ultimate sacrifice

Active duty and retired troopers joined family members of those who lost their lives over the years, noted Troop F Commander, Major Joseph Tripodo.
“Today is the annual day that we set aside to remember those in our ranks who have left us by making the ultimate sacrifice,” Tripodo said. “It is a time where we pay homage to the troopers who have given their lives in the service of the people that they were sworn to protect.”.
A bagpiper played “Amazing Grace” and wreathes were place at a granite monument in front of the headquarters building.
Troop K headquarters near Poughkeepsie was the scene of a similar ceremony to honor their members who also lost their lives serving the public.
