MONTICELLO – The pilot of a single-engine Cirrus SR22 plane that crashed upon landing at the Monticello Motor Club in the Town of Thompson on Tuesday told Sullivan County authorities that the plane experienced landing gear trouble as he was touching down resulting in the plane skidding off the runway.
The 56-year-old pilot and two passengers were uninjured when the plane made a hard landing at 8:30 a.m.
The pilot told Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies that he had departed an airport in Norwood, Massachusetts at about 7:10 a.m. en route to the motor club.
The plane was moved to a hangar on the property pending an inspection by the FAA and an interview with the pilot.
