MIDDLETOWN – The City of Middletown should be selling its gray water – treated sewage – to the CPV power plant in nearby Wawayanda, this fall.
The $900 million plant will purchase the water to cool its facility, said Mayor Joseph DeStefano.
“We hope they start taking some, from what I am told, around maybe September,” the mayor said. “We are hoping to start deriving some revenue from that agreement starting in September or October. When fully operational, it is anticipated to be about $500,000 per year.”
Using gray water to cool the facility is said to be significantly cheaper than using fresh water.
CPV is also paying for the installation of water and sewer lines from Dolson Avenue in Middletown to the power plant.
