Thirteen-year-old charged with phoning bomb threat to school

VILLAGE OF LIBERTY – A
bomb threat was called into the Liberty Middle School at 1 p.m. on Friday
and within two hours, village police identified and apprehended the suspect,
a 13-year-old student.

The boy was charged as a juvenile with making a terroristic threat as
a felony, said Chief Scott Kinne.

When the phone call came in, Liberty schools were placed in a lock-out
and the campus and surrounding streets were secured while an investigation
was launched with Liberty Police along with State Police, the Sullivan
County Sheriff’s Office and FBI.
