RED HOOK – State Police
Friday said the female construction worker who was struck and killed by
a bulldozer on a Red Hook project on Thursday was Susan Coons of Elizaville.
The 44-year-old woman was part of a two-person team operating an 18-ton
bulldozer leveling a field in Cortlandt.

She was off the machine when the operator, Kenneth Bendix, 45, of Tivoli,
adjusted the blade and noticed his partner had been struck. He called
911 and first responders rushed Coons to Northern Dutchess Hospital where
she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy determined Coons died as a result of severe blunt force

State Police are investigating and OSHA has been informed of the incident.
