GOSHEN – April showers
bring May flowers, but they also bring 15 suspected drug dealers to the
justice system.

Orange County law enforcement authorities arrested them in various parts
of the county during the early days of the month.

“Operation
April Showers” resulted in undercover agents making contact
with the defendants, said District Attorney David Hoovler.

“The majority of these cases were sales, which usually involve an
undercover meeting a person and then there is an exchange for drugs and
that is a class B felony in the State of New York, criminal sale of a
controlled substance in the third degree, if it is a narcotic, and it
is punishable by a minimum of one and a maximum of nine years in a state
prison, if you are a first time offender. If you are not a first time
offender, the numbers go up a little bit,” he said.
The investigation and arrests were made by the DA’s Office, Orange
County Sheriff Carl DuBois office, and police chiefs Robert Hertman of
the Town of Wallkill and William Worden of Port Jervis, as well as Lt.
Richard Carrion, the officer in charge of the Newburgh City Police Department.
