Home for sale by realtor in Orange County
WHITE PLAINS – Sales of single-family homes in Rockland County
rose in the first quarter of the year by 23.7 percent over the same period
last year.
The figures, reported by the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors on
Monday, found home sales grew by 11.5 percent in Orange County and by
7.1 percent in Westchester, but fell by 1.9 percent in Putnam County.
The median selling price increased the most in Orange County, by 7.0 percent,
to $230,000.
It rose in Rockland County by 6.5 percent, to $425,000, and in Westchester
County, by 5.3 percent, to $600,000. The Median sale price fell in Putnam
by 1.7 percent, to $295,000.
High sales rates, a sharp decline in inventory, and an uneven pattern
of price increases across the region marked 2017’s first quarter
entry to the real estate market recovery of the past five years, the realtors
association reported.
Realtors reporting in the Hudson Gateway Multiple Listing Service, a subsidiary
of Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors, reported a total of 3,700 closed
transactions in the four-county region during the first three months of
2017, a 9.1 percent increase or 309 units more than last year’s
first quarter results.
The organization reported the closings resulted from sales and market
activity during the winter months of 2016 and early 2017, and comprised
single-family houses, condominiums, cooperatives, and 2-4 family houses.
