Chain reaction crash on I-84 shut down the highway for two hours

MAYBROOK – A six-car pileup on Interstate 84 westbound just before
Maybrook exit 5 on Monday afternoon resulted in serious injuries to a
woman and shut down the superhighway for two hours.
A tractor-trailer driver from Pennsylvania said he saw traffic ahead of
him slow down.
Something went wrong when he stepped on his brakes and the truck plowed
into the rear of the car in front of him, he said. That caused a chain
reaction crash.
The injured woman had to be cut out of her vehicle.
Extensive traffic backups occurred as a result of the closure of the highway.
