POUGHKEEPSIE – Three people were arrested by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau for alleged credit card fraud that took place in several locations in Dutchess County dating back to February 11.
Charged where Chavon Cotterell, 24, Aldasia Brown, 17, and Tionne Stroman, 17, all of Poughkeepsie. They were all charged with possession of a forged instrument and identity theft as felonies and were released on appearance tickets returnable to Poughkeepsie Town Court.
All three are accused by police of coding blank credit cards with stolen information, and then using those cards to make fraudulent purchased at a number of stores.
The equipment used to code the credit cards, the blank cards and the stolen information were all acquired online.
As of Friday, the amount of stolen property totaled over $8,000. Police expect that to increase as the investigation continues and more victims are identified.
