Silvestri
NEW CITY – Rockland County Executive Edwin Day named Joan Silvestri as the new Social Services commissioner. She will start on the next week having been confirmed already by the county legislature.
Silvestri has served as commissioner of Personnel since March 2011. Before that, she was county commissioner of Elections, a position she began in 2001.
“There is no better, more experienced person to lead this very important county department than Joan Silvestri,” said Day. “She is a skilled executive with a long record of service to the people of Rockland County.”
Day said she enjoys strong support. “Her skills as a manager and her commitment to Rockland Co0unty are widely recognized.”
Silvestri replaces Commissioner Susan Sherwood, who retired.
