POUGHKEEPSIE – A handful
of members of the Stop the Cuomo Tax campaign and the New York Public
Interest Research Group were at the Poughkeepsie railroad station Monday
morning to hand out leaflets to commuters urging them to support a moratorium
on Governor Cuomo’s $7.6 million “nuclear bailout” to
upstate power plants.
NYPIRG staffer Eric Wood said if it is not blocked, it will add to the
utility bills of all New Yorkers and he is hopeful this hand-billing and
otherswill have an impact on the final outcome in Albany.
“I do think will have a lot of impact,” Wood said. “We have to keep the pressure on the state capital to make sure this is happening. This is the only way how.”
The groups plan on continuing their campaign at Metro-North stations in Westchester and at Penn Station.
