Rifles and ammo confiscated by police

VILLAGE OF FISHKILL – A 50-year-old New Hampshire man is in the
Dutchess County Jail in lieu of bail following his arrest for allegedly
pointing a gun at another person in the Village of Fishkill.

Just before 10 p.m. on Monday, Dutchess County 911 received a call for
Flory’s Mobil gas station on Schuyler Boulevard of a man reportedly
pointing a gun at another person.

Fishkill Village Police located a man fitting the description provided
in a vehicle with out-of-state license plates. He was later identified
as Richard Chase of Amherst, New Hampshire.

Officers ordered him several times to show his hands and get out of the
car, but her refused and began to reach for items on the front passenger
seat. After a period of time, he complied and got out of the vehicle and
was placed into custody. He was then positively identified by the person
who called 911.

Investigation resulted in officers locating three fully loaded rifles
and additional ammunition in the vehicle.

Chase was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and menacing.

He was taken to the hospital complaining of a health issue and later transported
to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

Town of Fishkill and State Police assisted at the scene.
