New life for vacant building

KINGSTON – The Bruderhof Communities religious organization is buying the former Armor Dynamics building on Corporate Drive in the Kingston Business Park.
The group will pay $750,000 to the Kingston Local Development Corporation for the 10,800 square foot building configured as office and light manufacturing space. It comes with just under seven acres of land.
Mayor Steven Noble, who serves as president of the Kingston LDC, said there are no local tax incentives being granted.
“This will be a full, taxable property here in Kingston so they will be paying all of their local, state and county and school district taxes,” Noble said. “This is going to be putting a building back on the tax rolls and it will be a good thing for Kingston because it has been off the tax rolls.”
Bruderhof will continue in the textile history of Kingston by operating
a cut and sew business and hiring 20 to 25 people.
The sale is pending approval from the New York State Authorities Budget Office. State law requires the KLDC to provide an explanatory statement for the disposal of property by negotiation.
