WASHINGTON – Three people were killed in London at mid-afternoon local time on Wednesday when a suspected terrorist plowed a vehicle into several people on the Westminster Bridge, the closest Thames crossing to Parliament. One of the victims was a police officer. Forty people were injured.
Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D, NY-17) called the attack “evil” and pledged America’s support to its ally.
“It is horrifying. I condemn it in the strongest possible terms. It is clear that those responsible must be brought to justice immediately,” Lowey said. “I will continue working to ensure that the United States fully supports our friends in the United Kingston to investigate and combat this apparent act of terror.”
The suspect was shot and killed by police in London.
