MONTICELLO – A Monticello man is charged with felony assault after video surveillance showed him punching, kicking and dragging his victim on a sidewalk near the Monticello post office on Broadway.
Village Police charged Daniel Burgos, 32, with assault and violation of parole. He is currently on state parole for a prior conviction of reckless endangerment.
Police were called to the scene of the 2:30 Sunday morning attack and found the victim, a 28-year-old woman who was an acquaintance of Burgos, bleeding heavily from the face and suffering from a serious left eye injury. She was transported to Catskill Regional Medical Center. Investigators reviewed the nearby video surveillance that showed the attack.
Burgos is in the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
