Polich and Demchak – staying close to their employees

WALDEN – The local foundry Polich Tallix, renowned for their being
the first company outside of Chicago to be commissioned to cast the Academy
Award Oscar statuette last year, announced they will be relocating from
their facility on Route 747 to the Big Apple Circus building in Walden.
When owner Dick Polich made the announcement Tuesday, he said, due to the nature of his business, being a facilitator for the realization of fine, modern art, made change feel very necessary – a juxtaposition of what he does.
“I work with artists; so, what’s the biggest thing about art: it changes all the time,” he said. “Change is just a fundamental part of what I do.”
However, keeping within the spirit of change was not the only reason. Polich said they needed more room to continue growing the business and they spent approximately $2.5 million on the space to do just that.
As far as coming to Walden, Executive VP and General Manager of Polich Tallix Adam Demchak said it was about convenience for their employees and artists.
“We have a lot of long tenured employees that we didn’t want to move even a half an hour in any direction because it would make it hard for somebody to get to work; so, we wanted to stay where we were, close to where we were,” said Demchak. “We have a lot of clients come up from the city and they come up on the Metro-North train, so we wanted to stay towards the eastern side of Orange County so that we could have easy access to pick up clients in Beacon. We do that quite a bit.”
There is still a bit of doing as far as the moving in process, and many of the costumes from the Big Apple Circus are still in the building.
Polich and Demchak said they intend to be in the Walden location, up and running, by late August of this year.
