TNT found in Philipstown woods

TOWN OF PHILIPSTOWN – What would you do if you found 10 pounds of TNT and a load of blasting caps in an old trailer on your property?
One man in the Town of Philipstown had that dilemma on last Sunday, February 19, when he called the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office to report that find. He told authorities he found the explosives while clearing the property and that he believed they belonged to the former owner of the land, now thought to be dead, who had owned a blasting company.
Deputies secured the scene and the Westchester County Police Bomb Squad responded and safely removed and disposed of the items.
