WHITE PLAINS – A Mount Vernon man is in the Westchester County
Jail on $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond following his indictment on
a charge of manslaughter.

Donte Pace, 22, was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon
in connection with the death of James Puryear.

It is alleged that on October 18, 2016 at about 4:45 p.m., Puryear was
walking on Elm Street in Yonkers when Pace approached and stabbed him
once in the chest with a knife. Puryear was not armed. He was rushed to
St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation by Yonkers Police led to Pace’s arrest on October
28.

If convicted he faces up to 25 years in state prison.
