NEW YORK – A former corrections officer at the state’s Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in Westchester County was arrested on Wednesday and charged with sexually assault a female inmate.
Jeffrey Green, 48, of Brooklyn, then a corrections officer, was charged with assault and forcing himself on a female inmate abusing her against her will in violation of her federal civil rights.
Late in the evening hours of March 10, 2016, Green allegedly unlocked, opened the victim’s cell and entered it unaccompanied by any other officer, and abused her in several ways, including fondling her groin.
The assault stopped when Green was interrupted when another corrections officer knocked on a door to be admitted into the unit.
The inmate reported the assault the following morning and a medical exam produced saliva samples indicating a single-source male profile. Surveillance video and audio recordings from the prison showed Green entering the victim’s cell without another officer present that evening and also audibly heard him say at one point is she “ready” to perform a sex act.
If convicted, Green could face up to 10 years in prison.
