KINGSTON – Ulster County government has had a policy concerning the use of project labor agreements for construction projects of over $1 million since 2001, but it has apparently never been used.
County Legislator John Parete, chairman of the Government Efficiency and Review Committee learned of the policy recently.  He believes it should be considering going forward.
“It is a policy that has been in existence, but hasn’t been adhered to,” Parete said. “I guess we don’t have to find out why, but it would be interesting to know and get the parties together.”
There is also a resolution on the books since 2010 to appoint a special committee to draft a proposed local law or policy for capital projects oversight for the county.
Parete said his Government Efficiency Committee could assume that role.
