MONTICELLO –A man, who wore a clown mask while holding up the Forestburgh
Road Citgo gas station in Monticello on July 26, 2016, was sentenced in
Sullivan County Court to nine years in state prison.

District Attorney James Farrell said Jeffrey Schuman, 36, of Monticello,
was also sentenced on Friday to five years of post-release supervision.

Schuman had entered the gas station armed with what appeared to be a handgun
and stole money from the store clerk. It turned out the weapon was a BB
gun, which police seized from his home along with clothing he wore during
the robbery.

Investigators arrested Schuman and an accomplice, Stephanie Scanna, 32,
also of Monticello, who pled guilty and is awaiting sentencing.

“This robbery was investigated and solved in a matter of a few hours
due to the good work of the Monticello Police, New York State Police and
my office,” Farrell said.
