Hein was all smiles during his State of
the County address last week

KINGSTON – The leaders of the Republican and Democratic parties in the Ulster County Legislature are pleased with what they heard from County Executive Michael Hein in his annual state of the county address last week.
Hein, a Democrat, said the county has had many successes in the last
few years because of the cooperation between the two parties.
Legislature Chairman Kenneth Ronk, a Republican, agreed.
“I think it’s great,” Ronk said. “The county executive and I both like to use this word ‘together.’ It’s how I described my first year as chairman. We are going to work together; the two caucuses in the legislature are going to continue to work together; the two branches of government are going to continue to work together and the people only benefit.”
Democratic Minority Leader Hector Rodriguez agreed.
“I look forward to working with the executive on a unified Democratic agenda for the people of Ulster County,” Rodriguez said. “As everything else, there will be some bumps in the road, but I am highly confident that this agenda will be moving the ball forward.”
Hein, who has a small handful of detractors, including on the Democrat side, said cooperation from both sides of the aisle has helped move his agenda forward.
