NEW WINDSOR – A man, who sustained burns when his New Windsor apartment
caught fire, has been charged with felony possession of marijuana and
misdemeanor unlawful growing of cannabis.

At around 11 a.m. on January 10, police and firefighters were called to
a multi-family house at 615 Union Avenue.

Robert McDougall, 55, was the only occupant of the apartment where town
police found a marijuana grow operation with 38 plants and growing accessories.
An investigation into the cause of the fire determined it was likely
caused by a heating-type device, said Police Lt. Michael Farbent.

McDougall was released after posting $1,000 bail.
