Trump concluded his brief inaugural address with his trademark
slogan: “Make America great again”
WASHINGTON – New Yorker Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States at noon on Friday and, sticking with his campaign mantra, pledged to make America strong again.
“From this day forward, a new vision will govern our land,” he said.
The new president said until now, “Washington flourished – but the people did not share in its wealth. Politicians proposed – but the jobs left, and the factories closed. The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country.” But, he said from this day forward, “we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another, or from one party to another – but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the American people.”
Trump noted that “the wisdom our soldiers will never forget: whether we are black or brown or white, we all bleed the same red blood of patriots, we all enjoy the same glorious freedoms and we all salute the same great American flag.”
