Port Jervis man arrested for drug possession

PORT JERVIS – A Port Jervis man was arrested on Friday following execution of a no-knock search warrant turned up heroin, packaging materials and cash from his residence.
Port Jervis City Police and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Operations Group executed the warrant at 7 New Street as part of an ongoing investigation into the sales and distribution of narcotics in Port Jervis and surrounding communities.
Police charged Jose Cruz, 35, of that address, with three counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance, all as felonies, criminal possession and criminally using drug paraphernalia, both as misdemeanors.  He was sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond pending action by the grand jury.
