KINGSTON – Hudson River Sloop Clearwater is back at its home port in Kingston for the winter for maintenance at the Hudson River Maritime Museum after completing its 47th sailing season.

This winter staff will focus on routine maintenance, sanding, painting, “fixing all those little projects that we do not get to work on during the busy sailing season,” said Captain Aleythea Dolstad.
Individuals looking for hands-on experience are welcome to spend a Saturday working on one of Clearwater’s winter maintenance projects. Volunteers will join the captain and crew in performing general sloop maintenance. No experience is required and volunteers should dress warm and wear work gloves. Volunteers are accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Saturday at the sloop through March.

The boat is covered with shrink-wrap to protect it from the winter weather
