MONTICELLO – Five Sullivan County men have applied for the job of county public safety commissioner, a post left vacant with the recent retirement of Richard Martinkovic.
Among the candidates is Monticello Mayor and former Police Chief Douglas Solomon. Solomon is currently the Beacon city police chief.
County Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez told Mid-Hudson News all of the candidates have vast experience in fire, police and EMS service.
It will be up to County Manager Joshua Potosek to select the new commissioner subject to county legislative confirmation.  The post pays an annual salary of $55,000.
