TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A man
armed with what appeared to be a handgun held up the Chase Bank branch
at 5020 Route 9W next to the I-84 exit ramp shortly after noon on Tuesday.

The suspect, said to be a black man, had his head and face covered when
he went into the bank and demanded money. The teller turned over an undetermined
amount of cash.

He fled northbound on Route 9W in a Red Camry that police said may have
been the same vehicle that was reported stolen on Third Street near Route
9W in the City of Newburgh about an hour before the robbery.
Town of Newburgh Police are being assisted by State Police and the FBI.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Newburgh Town
Police Detective Division at 845-564-1100.
