GREENPORT – A Catskill man is charged with felony DWI and driving without a license following a head-on crash on a snow covered road on Thursday.
State Police said minutes before noon on Route 9G near the entrance of Olana State Park in the Town of Greenport, a car driven by Julien Ketchel, 31, was driving too fast for snowy conditions, lost control, crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and struck another car head on.
Ketchel and a passenger were uninjured.
The driver of the other car, Valarie Hail, 60, of Red Hook was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital in the City of Hudson with a broken arm.
Troopers charged Ketchel with felony DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of motor vehicle, unsafe speed and operating without a license. He is in the Columbia county Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.
Troopers were assisted by Greenport Fire Department personnel, State Park Police and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
