DOVER PLAINS – A Carmel woman has been charged with offering a false
instrument for filing after she filed a report that she had been the victim
of identity theft, State Police at Dover Plans said.
The arrest stems from an initial identity theft report Virginia Wittenberg
filed with troopers in July.
An investigation of her case determined the reported claim was false.
Wittenberg was issued an appearance ticket returnable to local court.
