POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro signed the county’s 2017 budget of some $467 million on Wednesday.
The spending plan includes the third year of reduced property tax levy and the second year of property tax cuts.
Molinaro said the budget includes a number of advanced initiatives.
“We are focused on core county services along with expanding our support for law enforcement, public safety, improving overall community health and providing assistance to children, seniors and veterans,” he said.
Molinaro said he supports amendments made by the county legislature including funding for expanded senior home delivered meals to five-days-a-week service; expanding operational hours for Mental Health America’s Living Room Homeless Day Shelter; new Peer-to-Peer recovery support counselor; stipend increases for the emergency response deputy coordinators; educational and public outreach for human rights, pesticide use, well testing and tick-borne illness.
The legislature approved the budget last week on a 24-1 vote.
