PORT JERVIS – The average homeowner in Port Jervis will pay an additional $114.90 in property taxes in 2017 as the city council voted five to four Monday night to adopt a new spending plan.
Mayor Kelly Decker called it “a decent budget,” noting the council only reduced his proposed plan by $11,749.
The budget includes no layoffs and several new projects, said the mayor.
They include the downtown promenade, bridge replacement and road widening project, continuation of work on the hiking and biking trail, construction on East Main Street and Kingston Avenue sidewalks, intersection upgrades and more, he said.
The $15.2 million budget is an increase of $712,236 over the 2016 fiscal plan.
