MONTICELLO – Up to $400,000
could be available to Sullivan County for an assessment of Brownfield
sites that could be remediated and used for development. The County Legislature
approved an application.

Alan Sorensen, who chairs the legislature’s Environmental Management
and Real Property Committee, introduced the resolution.

“I’m hopeful that Sullivan County will be able to participate
and where there are sites that need cleanup, to clean up those sites and
make them viable once again for economic development purposes,”
Sorensen said.
He said there are no specific sites in mind at this point, but getting
the federal funding will facilitate a survey of the entire county.
