Harvey: “discussions with family”

NEWBURGH – City Councilman Torrance Harvey is just completing the
first year of a four-year term, but he is already eying a run for Newburgh
mayor in three years.

Harvey, who is a school teacher, told Mid-Hudson News he has had discussions
with his family about a run for the city’s top elected job and members
of the community are already urging him to run.

“It is something that is definitely on my radar, but I haven’t
made a decision on that, but the community is speaking in that direction
and communicating their desire and the want for me to seriously consider
running for mayor, becoming the next mayor,” he said.
Last year, incumbent Mayor Judy Kennedy won her second four-year term
running as an independent when another Democrat, Jonathan Jacobson, defeated
her in a primary.
