GALLATIN – An off-duty state environmental conservation police officer
was shot in the leg Tuesday evening when a hunter mistook him for a deer,
a source close to the investigation told Mid-Hudson News.
The 36-year-old officer was rushed to MidHudson Regional Medical Center
in Poughkeepsie for treatment of the wound caused by a 30-30 rifle shell,
the source said.
State Police are investigating the incident which occurred behind US Lumber
on Route 7 in Gallatin.
