ELLENVILLE – Village Judge
Matthew Parker of Ellenville is not so sure that we will ever eradicate
the illicit drug problem in the country, but he says we have to do our
best to hold it down.  He sees new cases of drug abuse in his court
every week.
“AI don’t know that we can put a stop to it, but I think what we can do is we look at it for what it is; it’s a horrible addiction that has happened to people for various reasons be it not being able to get their pain pills anymore or whatever the reason may be,” Parker said. “My hope is that we can help some individuals. We are not going to be able to help everybody.”
Through a new drug diversion program similar to a drug court, Parker hopes to reach at least some drug abusers to help them turn their lives around.
