NEWBURGH – The beginning of the week marked the launch of a new program to combat domestic violence in the City of Newburgh.
City Manager Michael Ciaravino noted the police department has a new
partner.
“A collaborative partnership between the police department and Safe Homes of Orange County, along with a grant obtained by Safe Homes, created a program, which began [Monday], the first phase of the program embedded a Safe Homes advocate within our Newburgh Police Department,” Ciaravino said. “The advocate started and will be there to assist victims with services as well as to assist the police in their response to domestic violence.”
The grant to fund the program was provided by the state.
