POUGHKEEPSIE – Four men were arrested by Poughkeepsie City Police
when they executed a search warrant on Friday, October 21 at 2 Morgan
Avenue in the basement. The warrant search was part of an ongoing investigation
regarding marijuana distribution and other illegal activity at that location.

Members of the police department’s Neighborhood Recovery Unit and
Emergency Services Unit recovered roughly 12 ounces of marijuana and seized
$1,375 in cash along with cocaine, heroin, scales and packaging materials.

Charged with felony and misdemeanor drug possession as well as misdemeanor
possession of marijuana were Yakup Sait, 29, of 36 Lexington Drive in
Newburgh; Shaquille Byrd, 23, of 31 Bircher Avenue in Poughkeepsie; Brian
Creary, 40, of 135 Garden Street, apartment 1 in Poughkeepsie; and David
Ollivierre, 26, of 14 Balding Avenue, apartment 2, in Poughkeepsie.

They were all arraigned in city court on Saturday and remanded to the
Dutchess County Jail.

Two other people were also arrested and charged with lesser offenses and
later released on appearance tickets. Police did not release their names.

During the course of the investigation and search warrant, officers also
found evidence that the location was operating as an illegal nightclub
and there were a number of unsafe conditions in and on the premises.

The building department was contacted to conduct an inspection and found
the location to be unsafe and posted it as such.

The building department contacted Central Hudson to respond to the scene
and disconnect the power to the building for safety concerns.

Residents of the community with information about drug dealing or suspicious
activity in their neighborhoods are encouraged to contact the City of
Poughkeepsie Police Department Neighborhood Recovery Unit at 845-451-4060.
