Molinaro announces municipal consolidation and shared services grants

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County’s 2016 Municipal Consolidation and Shared Services Grant Program awards total $925,000 to six municipalities.
County Executive Marcus Molinaro implemented the program in 2013 to incentivize municipal projects through a competitive grant process that seeks to increase cooperation, reduce redundancy, and result in smaller, smarter government.
This year’s awards include:

The City of Beacon will receive $200,000 to develop a final design and construction documents to consolidate the three existing firehouses into one.
The City of Poughkeepsie will receive $75,000 to conduct a study of the city’s dispatch operations, a fiscal analysis and restructuring plan.
The City of Poughkeepsie will receive $75,000 to conduct an analysis of the city’s Public Works operations to identify ways to enhance operational function and potential consolidation and shared service opportunities in the city as well as with the Town of Poughkeepsie and the county.
The Town of Poughkeepsie will receive $280,000 to upgrade and consolidate the town’s dispatch system with the county’s system.
The Town of Wappinger will receive $145,000 to develop improvements to the town’s emergency services building.
The Town of East Fishkill will receive $100,000 for engineering and construction for the formation of a consolidated sewer district between the town and school district on the Route 52 corridor.
