WHITE PLAINS – Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino is proposing a $303 million capital budget to improve and maintain the county’s parks, roads, bridges, buildings and technology infrastructure.
The proposed budget is up nine percent over the current spending plan
and is designed to take advantage of low-cost borrowing made possible
by low interest rates and the county’s credit rating, the highest
of any county in the state, said Astorino.
Over 35 percent of the budget, $110 million, would upgrade recreational facilities across the county including $11 million to finish the Kensico Dam Plaza project.
A total of $72 million would be for 51 building and infrastructure projects including $20.5 million for IT improvements and $12.5 million for affordable housing.
Some $50 million is slated for eight projects for parkways, roads and bridges.
Environmental projects would receive $41 million including $23.2 million for improvements to the Yonkers Joint Waste Water Treatment Plant Resource Recovery Facility.
